In 1809 The British East India Company opened a Military Seminary here to train members of its private army, a move that drew an increasing number of settlers to the area. Drivers will appreciate that The City is just a 40-minute jaunt up the Old London Road (A23).
Educational institutions are plentiful beginning with Fennies Nursery School and King Fishers Pre-School, continuing on with the St. John’s Primary School, Davidson Primary School, St. Thomas Becket Catholic Primary School, as well as Oasis Academy, Harris Academy, Art Blake Academy and Archbishop Tenison’s CE High School.
