Estate Agents in Thornton Heath CR7

For much of its history, the area now known as Thornton Heath/CR7 was focused on the Whitehorse Manor House (demolished in the 1890s) near what is now White Horse Pond on the Old London Road. In the 17th and 18th centuries, this area was notorious as both a centre for highway banditry, and as “Gallows Green” where many of those bandits met their inglorious ends.

Today, those colourful days have passed into legend and Thornton Heath is an in-demand South London suburb with a large and varied housing stock ranging from historic cottages, to terraced homes, semi-detached homes, detached homes and apartment blocks. When you need Estate Agents in Thornton Heath/CR7 think Oaks Estate Agents. We have more than 25 years of experience in the local market.

Thornton Heath - CR7

What does Thornton Heath and the CR7 area have to offer?

Thornton Heath Leisure Centre, Energie Fitness and Stone’s Gym lead the way for health and fitness fanatics in the area. For garden lovers, there’s the Rambling Rose Garden Centre. For do-it-yourselfers, there’s Gardening DIY Hardware, and the nearby Palace Home & Hardware. There are more than a dozen pharmacies in and around the town, and an equal number of petrol stations within a few minutes’ drive.

Whatever type of food you enjoy you are bound to find it here. There’s Taperia Tapas Bar, Rich 4 Life Juice Bar, Cafe Chai, Monastiraki Greek Food, the Swad Vegetarian Restaurant, the Blue and Orange Restaurant, Rodeos Burgers, Fireaway Pizza, Island Favourite Caribbean Restaurant, the Divine Diner and many more. If your tastes are a bit more upscale try the Bar 61 Restaurant, Annabella’s Kitchen, or A Torre.

Thornton Heath Station on the Southern Line sends 4 trains per hour to London Victoria, 2 trains per hour to London Bridge, and 5 trains per hour to Clapham Junction. You can switch at London Victoria to make connections to Heathrow, with the full journey typically taking about 1 1/4 hours and costing a fraction of what a taxi cab would cost.

The town is also crisscrossed by dozens of bus lines, including London Bus routes 50, 130, 198, 250, 450, 468, 663, N68, N250 and X68. If you are heading to the continent the Bromley South station and the Southeastern Line is just a short drive away with plenty of long term parking in the area. And, of course, if you love to drive, and work in London centre, The City is just a half-hour jaunt due north up the Old London Road (A23).

Like many of the towns in this part of South London, Thornton Heath boasts a wealth of educational institutions for students of all ages. These include Parchmore pre-school, Whitehorse Manor Schools, Bensham Manor School, Ecclesbourne Primary School, Gonville Primary School, West Thornton Primary School, Beulah Junior School, Kensington Avenue Primary School and others.

Croydon College, Croydon University and the London School of Law and Management are also close by for those in search of higher education opportunities. Also, if you are intent on pursuing an interest in the martial arts, there is the Allen Taekwondo Academy, the CWR Karate Club, the GKR Karate School, Croydon Karate and more.

Thornton Heath is one of London’s many districts, nestled in the London Borough of Croydon. Just north of Croydon and around seven miles south of Charing Cross, the area is covered by the three London emergency services – namely London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and the Met Police.

Often described as a ‘hive of activity’, the area has a range of shops, restaurants, play centres and even a cinema – making it an ideal location for young families. This is aided by the new leisure centre which was built in 2004, since proving a popular spot for locals.

There is plenty to do in Thornton Heath, for people of all ages. Coming in hot as a highly recommended visit is the Bethlem Museum of the Mind, which offers a fantastic array of art exhibitions and an insight into the workings of a former hospital.

Don’t worry, though, if museums aren’t your thing. Millers Pond and Kelsey Park offer the best of our great outdoors, meanwhile, the restored Shirley Windmill is well worth a visit.

For keen golfers there is The Addington Golf Club and, for those with a more acquired taste, there is The Ludoquist – a unique board game café, bar and shop.
